About the position

The Mechanical Engineering discipline forms the technical heart of our organisation and is responsible for structural calculations, designs, supplier specifications, and ensuring optimal routing and accessibility of our equipment. Our scope covers the entire process, from initial system design through to the shop drawing phase.

In addition, we play a key role in collaboration with other disciplines, such as control systems, electrical engineering and hydraulic engineering, as well as with supply chain, production and commissioning. We also make a difference for our clients: our mechanical engineers support in resolving complex technical challenges and develop smart system upgrades.

As Engineering Lead Mechanical, you are at the helm of this discipline. You lead a dedicated team of engineers, providing focus, structure and development. You manage daily activities and work allocation, while also supporting the growth of your team members.

You are ultimately responsible for the quality, progress and delivery of all mechanical engineering activities within the discipline, making you a crucial link in the success of our projects.

Personal development and education opportunities are part of the deal. We would also like to point out the other advantages of working at Huisman, such as the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking innovations, an excellent employment conditions package and regular drinks in our own bar.

You actively contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of engineering standards and act as line manager for a team of mechanical engineers.

Your main responsibilities:

  • You lead a team of engineers, ensuring focus, structure and effective work allocation. You manage performance, set priorities and ensure the right expertise is deployed at the right time, in close collaboration with your manager.
  • You ensure that both discipline deliverables and multidisciplinary designs meet project requirements and engineering standards, and that processes are consistently applied throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • You provide valuable input based on your expertise to further develop and improve engineering methods, tools and technologies.
  • You monitor the progress of projects within the discipline, take corrective action where necessary and ensure the team works according to plan. You maintain continuous oversight of quality, performance and results, and report accordingly.
  • You actively contribute to improving discipline and product standards by translating lessons learned from projects into concrete improvements.
