About the position
As a senior lead engineer, you are responsible for an entire project at product level. Examples of such projects include a knuckle boom crane, a motion-compensated pile gripper, or a cable-lay system. You are the driving force behind multiple technical disciplines within our organisation. You lead a team of lead engineers, each responsible for their own discipline; mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or control systems. You ensure alignment between the disciplines, safeguard the quality of the technical output, and promote continuous improvement. You are a strategic leader with a keen eye for engineering, planning, and team development.
What do we expect of you?
As a senior lead engineer, you are responsible for the overall outcome of the project, setting the technical direction and ensuring top-level team performance. With a strong focus on quality, consistency, and customer orientation, you turn complex challenges into smart, reliable solutions.
This means your key activities include:
- Leading and coaching multiple lead engineers;
- Coordinating projects at product level;
- Encourage team collaboration and create an environment for people to thrive;
- Safeguarding technical quality, standardisation, and knowledge sharing within and across disciplines;
- Acting as the technical lead responsible for complex, multidisciplinary projects;
- Optimising engineering processes and contributing to the strategic roadmap of the department;
- Identifying risks and opportunities within projects and responding proactively;
- Reporting on progress, quality, budget, and customer satisfaction to management;
- Actively contributing to the development of engineering standards and innovation.

You have:
- A master's degree (or the equivalent) in a technical field, preferably mechanical engineering, mechatronics, control engineering, or robotics;
- Experience in the offshore/maritime sector or with heavy steel structures;
- A strong affinity with complex mechanical systems;
- At least 8 years of experience in engineering, and preferably 4 years of experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams;
- In-depth knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines, such as structural integrity, motion control, and sensor technology;
- Experience with risk management, quality assurance, and customer-focused delivery;
- A structured and proactive working style, with the ability to maintain oversight and motivate others.
Some practical things we need you to have
- An EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands;
- A good command of the English language (and preferably Dutch), both spoken and written.
