As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you are the technical driving force within multidisciplinary project teams. You not only design mechanical components and complex installations, but also create complete system designs that meet functional requirements, lifecycle requirements, safety standards, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.

You also support and guide fellow engineers, safeguard design quality, and act as sparring partner for structural engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer Design, you contribute to project innovation and the further development of our engineering capabilities. You are responsible for designing mechanical component

Your responsibilities:

• Maintain oversight of complete work packages.
• Provide technical direction within your design scope.
• Independently develop and detail designs of steel structures, components and mechanisms.
• Develop system designs focused on functionality, lifecycle and integration.
• Perform structural, hand and basic FEM calculations to support decisions.
• Prepare engineering estimates for technical decision-making.
• Consider manufacturability, cost, materials, production and assembly.
• Produce, review and modify design and manufacturing drawings.
• Ensure seamless integration within the overall system and environment.
• Develop alternative solutions for manufacturing or assembly challenges.
• Liaise with procurement, suppliers and other disciplines on specifications.
• Contribute to optimisation and innovation of existing designs.
• Review and optimise design input from colleagues.
• Collaborate with structural engineers on validation and optimisation.
• Transfer designs for further validation and joint optimisation.
• Contribute to standards, work instructions and technical improvements.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of at least one product group.
• Support commissioning, testing and technical issue resolution.
• Coach and guide junior engineers and subcontractors.

You have:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer within the offshore or maritime sector, or in heavy steel construction.
• A passion for complex mechanical systems and design.
• The ability to prioritise effectively in a technically challenging environment.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor is an advantage.
