What can you expect from the Senior HR Business Partner position at Huisman?

Huisman’s HR function is continuing to evolve, offering you the opportunity to contribute ideas and help shape how HR supports the business.

As a Senior HR Business Partner, you act as the primary contact for HR matters for both employees and department managers. You provide practical HR guidance aligned with business priorities, enabling departments to achieve their objectives. You advise on organisational developments, workforce planning and employee-related matters.

You are involved in various HR-related themes, including performance management, and support managers throughout core HR processes and organisational change.

In addition, you play an active role in developing and refining the HR strategy by translating organisational goals into clear, practical HR policies and initiatives.

You will be part of the HR team in Schiedam and report to the HR Manager NL. In this role, you work closely with the HR Business Partners and colleagues in Recruitment, Learning & Development, HR Support, Payroll, and Compensation & Benefits.

What do we expect of you?

  • Partner with the NL Management Team and department managers to ensure HR priorities support business objectives and sustainable growth.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, addressing workplace matters, resolving issues where needed and supporting a constructive working environment.
  • Contribute to the Performance Management Cycle, Talent Management, Succession Planning and career development initiatives.
  • Provide practical guidance and on-the-job support to managers on specific HR topics.
  • Work closely with Recruitment on onboarding, internal mobility and offboarding processes.
  • Coordinate and support sickness absence cases in collaboration with the case manager.
  • Contribute to the implementation and improvement of HR policies and processes.
  • Monitor and interpret HR data to identify trends and support decision-making.
  • Understand the dynamics of a family-owned business and help balance professional HR practices with the company’s family-oriented culture.

You are:

  • A credible and trusted HR Business Partner, able to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, international environment and able to support the business through change.
  • Pragmatic and hands-on, combining analytical insight with practical solutions.
  • Organisationally aware, able to balance different interests while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Resilient, proactive and results-oriented, with a collaborative mindset and strong influencing skills.
  • Able to operate independently within your own business domain, while actively collaborating with the wider HR team to ensure aligned and consistent HR delivery.

You have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • At least 7 years’ experience as an Sr. HR Business Partner, including experience in an international setting.
  • Solid knowledge of Dutch employment law and social legislation.
  • Experience within a family-owned business (preferred).

Some practical things we need you to have

  • An EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands;
  • A good command of the Dutch and English language verbally and in writing.
